Steelhead season just kicked into high gear on the Eel.

Today the stars aligned for me - it was guide's day off, so I hit the river in the afternoon and I got 3 adults on 4 drifts with the plug - including my best steelie ever at around 15 pounds and 33".

I started steelhead fishing the Eel when I was a kid and have caught steel on all 6 rivers up here.  The most adult steelies I've caught have been from my kayaks, and it was due to NCKA.  There's lots of history behind that, but suffice it to say, I was inspired to do steelhead fishing from my kayaks because of NCKA and AOTY.

You can find your passion through this sport - not just in fishing but in life too.

Thanks for another awesome report.  Would love to book a trip with you sometime in March or April.  Let me know which weekends work for you.

Would love that, Sonny!  Send me the date you want - if it’s open I’ll put you on my schedule, and we only go if the river is right.

Most likely I will leave Friday evening (3/9/18) after work.  Where close by can I stay for the night (or I can sleep inside my truck) and where/when do we meet on Sat (3/10)?

I'll make a call for going or not by 3/7 or so - river is about to blow out and may not be back in by 3/10.

Call me up whenever you'd like and we can go over hotels or camping options.  (707) 845-0400
