I can't understand what they are talking about because it is all new to me.
They need pictures for us newbies.

Thanks, Potto.  Great info in that link you provided!

i heard the butterfly jigs are a pretty penny a piece so instead i went to sportmart and bought some jig bodies and gamkatsu kevlar tied hooks and made shorter versions of my own. they dont have the octagon bodies and are not that long but they sure work well for being about 5.00 apiece. stick a small strip of squid on it and it works even better.

i have caught all types of stuff on them as well. i think its the presentation and the action of a jig that makes it more appealing to fish. if you work something shiny and relatively fish shaped up and down off the bottom and mid water it wil get some hits if there are fish around.

i use two gamkatsu hooks on each jig and they go at the top of the jig where i tie it onto my line. i use nothing else when using those jigs.

i think even one hook would be fine but i use two for now.

i cant afford the shimano butterfly jigs and had no idea where to get them so i just put some jigs together and tried it. saltwater angler magazine rates them well.
