Dove a location where a bunch of juvenile GWS has been spotted but any shark report has always been #FAKENEWS. The water on the top layer was extremely brown and silty, but once we dove down to the second layer the viz went anywhere from a green 2’-12’. These halibut were tuff to spot as they dug themselves really deep into the sand where it was hard to determine their shape to get a good shot. The first Halibut I spotted I got a bit trigger happy and thought the fish was placed right above me and not at a 45 degree angle. I was a bit sad but went back to surveying the sand. When I spooked the second halibut it swam across my face so I let the shaft fly, I knew the flopper engaged but I didn’t know how well the shot placement was so I borrowed my dive buddies gun and placed a better shot on it to secure the catch.

Nice shot on the flattie on the move.

What gun did you use on the initial shot?

How deep where you diving?

Shark Shield?

38” Koah mid handle great for low viz close combat dives. Water wasn’t any deeper than 25’ no SS.
