I need some long fins for kicking around in the surf when my son is surfing

We used some made in France back in the 70s can’t remember the brand but we put grommets and laces on them to make them fit

Just wondering what’s good these days

I bought some short and wide boogie board type but they are killing my old knees

What size shoe are you? I have size 12 plastic long fins that you can borrow to see if they suit your needs as far as style goes. I also have carbon fiber fins but I use them frequently.

Oregon Freedive Company is selling all their old rental fins. Might get a good deal with them

If you want new fins, I can put you in contact with Bamboo Reef and they could get you a nice pair.

Thanks  We’re all the way up on the peninsula so might not be practical to borrow

The surf fins have zero flex and weren’t all that fast, felt like I was going to blow a knee

I still have one old duck fin from 1972 that would work but I think I need the long fins

Will check out the links

I loved to ab dive but was never into building up my legs for it so I really preferred/needed a flexible fin.  There are 2 I used and even after a whole lotta years they both seem to still be readily available and cheap.  The TUSA Liberator Xten would allow even my legs to dive all day, super flexible, but the down side was if at some point you needed to get some real thrust they would just flex, so it was kinda like a one speed fin, completely adequate but I seemed to get the same thrust no mater how hard I kicked, so I dodn't kick very hard. They were my preferred lazy me fins. A bit of a notch up were Cressi Frogs. A little stiffer and a little more thrust when I wanted it. Was my preferred fin when I wasn't feeling lazy.  Both were easy on the legs, my knees have never bothered me so I can'r speak specifically to that, but the flex is there on those.  The Xtens I think come in different stiffnesses, I only used the basic one, The Cressi Frogs come in open heel and a full foot pocket freedive style, I only used the open heel.

I'm not actually recommending them just giving my experience because you mentioned something to save your knees, I think most of the others here would be using something more aggressive. The ones I'm talking about here are the basic scuba fin, nothing like the long freedive fins.
