Need perch. Bad. For AOTY.
But 1st I have to confirm it's ok to use a diver as my "lure"
...Here's my plan: tie my line onto your divebelt, then flyline a live Bigjim in approx 25FOW, until I feel some recoil, then reel in my "lure" which hopefully has caught me a nice perch! 
That's ok, right?

I'll be your lure....as long as I can use your jig to help me get a fat verm out of 70 FOW.

 

Try right in front of the point to the right of the pier, where the seals hang out...big schools of all kinds of perch in there...same with the kiddie pool area under the pink house between side beach and point.

Also, just outside the big island in about 30 feet of water...have shot several fat rubberlips over there.

AbChild loves raffles so I need to figure out when I'm going to pick up a few more species to get her some more raffle tickets.

This weekend is Nutcracker weekend, so maybe 12/15 if WX is good.

Way to go to all those who competed !!! some impressive fish were taken and you all really got after it this year. I hope this happens again next year I will have to try my luck. Once again way to get after all.

Hope you and some of the guys from NCUH that are also members here participate...I really enjoyed keeping track of my PBs and challenging myself to try and hunt different species.

So jim when do sign up's start for 2013 ? and please share and post on the NCUH site I will make it a sticky thread on there.  I would like to make one sugestion how about adding a scallop div as well, and maybe an octo to. Any who please keep us posted.

Matt, as soon as sign-ups are ready for 2013 I will let you know and will post on NCUH as well.

 

Scallop was originally on our speecies list, but we nixed it because of the fact that sometimes the shells are hard to measure accurately (and get photographic evidence of the measurement)...abalone are pretty hard too but we have been getting by. Octopus would be even trickier I think?

I will talk it over with the official "DOTY Committe", me and fuzz and Rick.

Cool thanks Jim, As for the scallop I would think we could use the same rules as abalone, measure to the longest point. As for the Octo comment it was my bad attempt to stir the pot on the internet due to the octo fiasco in Washington bad joke. LOL No matter what you guy's decide I will be signing p and enjoying the comp cause it is for a good cause and will be fun.

Well, my quest for a verm (and more points) failed on Saturday. 

BUT, I had a BLAST and finished off the year doing what I love best...diving with good friends and hunting in tight holes for monkeys!!

  

15 days left and word on the street is Nelson already nailed enough new fish to knock me down a spot...then Rick will get an eel and knock me down some more.

 

Here is my prediction for final standings:

1. Fuzz
2. Rick
3. Nelson Kwok
4. Sharkbait (Nathan is on fire...got 2 upgrades on saturday...just needs a sheephead!)
5. BigJim
6. NorcalSlayer
7. Bloodbath
8. Hotplate
9. Ccup (note that he got 9th place with ONE day of diving before he messed his ear up!)
10. Abman (says he wants to get a few more species for Abchild  )
