Got time to mount up my downrigger this week. ready for some trout chasing. This kayak, with the space and rails makes mounting stuff a breeze :smt007 by the way, toilet bowl tank mounting kits work well in the tracks! Cut to length, made of brass so no corrosion. Worked well!
Come on out! It's time to play. It's time for TROUT Bass and STRIPER. Let go of the hand brake!

Will that location impede your paddle stroke?

Don't forget the line will scope back a bit when you're moving, so you need a little extra clearance on your paddle stroke.

Ron?

I have been following your mods on the Thresher 15.5.

Am in the market for a bigger boat and am trying to compare a Tarpon 16 with a Thresher 15.5.

Can you give me a comparative explanation of your experiences?

It looks like the Thresher is a lot roomier than the Tarpon in deck space?

I don't think Ron has been on a Tarpon 160. But, it is basically the same as his older 140. A bit different layout than a newer 160 though. Yes there is more deck space on the Thresher. Not a lot more though. It is a really different layout with the center hatch. That  alone gives you a bigger, flatter work area. Better in hull access while on the water. Drier ride too. If you have other Wilderness questions feel free to get in touch with me. I have just about every current model at my house.

Rob is a great comparative resource! I love my kayak and as a larger guy (250lb) I STAY DRY!!! :smt007 Do any of the other wilderness systems boats compare? As far as I'm concerned you can't really go wrong with any of them. Stability and comfort is about the only difference in models. I thought mine would be a barge like other brand boats this size but, Mine glides and tracks so well I was VERY surprised and Pleased. Paddle them all and get what feels right for you. Hook up with Rob he has more than dealers do :smt044 :smt044 :smt044
