Found this great picture and couldn't resist combining it with the dark humor of a favorite site--Despair.com

On the positive side, Frank observed the first rule of kayakers when taking a swim: Hold onto your boat and paddle!   :smt002 I don't see the paddle in this pic, but a choice between the paddle and the CG...hmmm, that's a no-brainer!  :smt100

Thanks Frank and Marmite;
You just reminded me to stuff my hull with pool noodles.
Seriously, I'm glad you guys made it through that one.
It sure was close, and we all learned from that epic episode (I hope).

Frank said in his account of what happen, that he had taken a "Self Rescue Class" Being the newbie and all, where can a person take such a class? Thought I would ask, and see if any other newbies would be interested

I'm definitely interested.  It's on my To-Do list before the opening of rockfish season as I've never been on the big blue.

There are plenty of posts on the site about where classes can be taken.  Maybe people will post their favorite class(es) and save us some time from having to look them up. :smt008

Tote,

It's not the real thing.  I just found the photo somewhere on the internet and pasted Frank's face on it from a picture I had of the two of us after a Del Valle trip and pasted in the sinking Hobie for added effect.

Marmite, now that you mention it, I can see the Photoshop evidence of pasting Franks' face in the picture, but you had me fooled, and I hope it gets more of us signed up for safety classes.  Safety practice is really fun, actually.  Thanks.

Love it!!! The poster child :laughing4:

If anything please take kayaking as your first priority. Their are others on this board who can testify how dangerous our sport can get in the deep blue. Go spend the money for a kayak safety glass or buddy up with those in the know...Gotta Love this Sport Frankfishing
