Mahi~
As long as you can sit comfortably on your dog and paddle him around the lake while you fish from him it was money well spent.

Guess what....... I spent $110.00 today to find out my dog was full of crap.  Everything went great after she took a gigantic dump on the vet's floor.  Once they took her temperature she looked up at me with an "I'm sorry " look on her face and let go.  Oh well, she was in misery and I didn't like seeing her suffer.  I just wish she was about ten minutes faster with her evacuation.

Aki's stupid and costly dog tricks:

> Foxtail in the ear = $300
> Getting stabbed by a branch and resulting infection = $600
> Trip to the emergency clinic for pneumonia = $600
> Taking a header while chasing a rabbit and spraining a shoulder = $200

Having a good hunting buddy = PRICELESS!

Chuck, I think if I had a dog like your's that earned it's keep I'd probably increase my yearly vet allowance for him/her.   Our dog however is a cockapoo/terrier mutt who's only real skill seems to be attracting old ladies and gay men when I take him for walks in the park.

Hi Yakers:

To some, Dogs' are our family and some would spend
what ever it takes. All of my dogs were "Pound Puppies" and I loved them dearly. It's not easy
to say No to some things.

That's funny as hell.  I can see that happening with your cool little dog. :smt005
When my dog was little pup she attracted girls in bikinis at the beach.  Why do pups have to grow up... why? :smt010

Are you sure its the Dog  :smt005
Group IQ is inversely proportional to the size of the group.

A Steelhead always knows where he is going, but a Man seldom does.

Mahi Mahi, sounds to me like the dog is actually pretty smart for its age. It has you and wife trained to let it eat out of the bag.  :smt044

Most Labs are actually pretty darn smart. But, if you don't train them, they will train you.

Been a couple of times after waiting for 45 minutes for teh doc that I would have LOVED to have done that.

My dogs (1.3 year old female chocolate labradoodles) vet fund depends on what they have destroyed recently.  Just had to patch a 16"x18" hole in my drywall.

They are still not too big for the rotisserie

Of course, since we were already there, she got a full checkup.  A little arthritis, but not too bad for a 10 year old dog.  Makes me feel a little guilty about all the thoughts of "how much is this going to cost".  And, trying to decide on a cut off point.  A shot of cortisone, and she is perkier than she has been in a long time.  And, the look on the vet tech's face when she removed the thermomiter was memorable.

Mahi Mahi, You are obviously not alone!! Several years ago, my wife and I spent Christmas Night at Loomis Basin with our dog who had consumed a large part of a bag of kibble that had not been properly stowed. I do not remember the cost, but I do remember hoping that this was not the birth of a foul new Christmas Tradition. :smt013 :smt011 :smt044

Firefighters said a grease fire that left $50,000 in damage to a Topeka home erupted after a dog shut a woman out of the house while fish was frying on the stove.

Authorities said the woman was taking garbage outside Tuesday evening when the dog somehow shut the door behind her. Firefighters arrived to find heavy smoke with flames shooting from the roof of the home.

Topeka Fire Department Capt. Greg Degand said residents tried to douse the blaze, which started on a stove in the kitchen, the flames spread to the attic and fully engulfed the house.

The woman's husband said the important thing is that everyone made it out safely, including the dog and their pet bird.
