Thanks.

Actually it is 2 each.  Geenlings 12" min and Cabs 15" min.  They count towards your 10-fish rockfish limit.

"2 fish within the 10 fish RCG Complex aggregate limit"

Ling limit is 2 minimum 24", but they don't count against the RCG limit.

Here is a quick and easy way to access saltwater regs:

http://www.dfg.ca.gov/marine/fishing_map.asp

(I shoulda used this before I mispoke the other day about 2 rods for flatties in the Bay.  Ha ha)

Why they would increase the take limit on a species that has been responsible for emergency closures in the past is beyond me.  :smt011

The greenling limit increased to 2 fish last year. The cabezon limit increased to 2 fish this year.
I know last season closed early due to the quota of yelloweye being met prematurely. And the estimated number of yelloweyes caught was based in unscientifically-extrapolated numbers...which is a shame. But have they ever closed the season prematurely due to greenling or cabezon quotas? I truly don't know...just wondering.

Good News Alert!
I heard this year's yelloweye quota (for CA) increased by way of lowering OR's quota. So it seems unlikely that we'll reach the yelloweye quota before the north coast's abbreviated (4 or 5 months) season ends. If anything, they'll extend the season. Wishful thinking, I know....

pat he's talking about cabbies, they have been part of emergency closures in the past, although that was a long time ago.

Yup. I think it was three or four years ago. The whole RF season was cut short because the cabbie sport (I think) quota had been exceeded.

If their science is good, it tells me that the limits and seasons are working.  Lingcod rebounded pretty quick after we were not allowed to catch/shoot them during their breeding months. :smt001

I used to think that until we went to shelter cove.
You couldn't keep th off the hook there.

Ate them everyday and brought two large boys home.

They are on of my favorite.
