This new effort replaces the rock dam on Old River that was visible from one of the back roads west of Lathrop and north of Tracy in the south Delta.  It's supposed to divert the salmon but let the smelt through.

Hope it helps.

I guess quite a few smolts are still headed the wrong way.

Article does not really say how they know the smelts are getting across.

A buddy of mine that works for the BOR worked on this and said that the striper fishing was red hot around these things
