The heaviest catch: fish category and crab category. Either total or individual specimen--I don't care. Heck, I don't expect to win anyway since I am new to using conventional tackle having fly fished the last 20 years while in California. I haven't used conventional tackle (since the MBK class a few weeks ago) since I was 14 at Cape Hatteras NC. Looking forward to being schooled by all you veterans.

I'm up for a Buck's Landing Sturgeon tourney.

With the recent rains (tough minimal) everyone is getting amped for sturgeon.

Buck's Landing has a sports bar that's reel old school. Lotta great guys just hangin out, drinking and talking fish. If you haven't been - you gotta go, it's a REAL sportsman's club.

If you look above the freezer to the left of the bar, you'll see our group pic w/ Josh.

Hoping something happens soon!

The sunday stillwater crew were chatting about Thanksgiving weekend and we agree that something special needs to be organized.  Last major Ling-o-rama was our first thought and Stillwater north came to mind.....duh........ :smt002
North coast fishing is so weather dependent, I can readily see that flexibility may be the key.
Whatever, Randy and I are interested.......... :smt004

Why not a sturgeon derby out of Buck's Landing sometime in Dec or Jan?

If everyone's holiday schedules permit, we can do it in Dec and have a last chance at the sturgeon and striper jackpots.

We can make it a simple MBF (money between friends) derby -- only $10 to buy in.  Afterwards, we can warm up at the Buck's Landing saloon, tell stories, and use their BBQ pit to cook our lunch.  We have an open invitation from the owner.

I've never fished for sturgeon but heck I'd come just to learn how!

Last Thanksgiving me and jelly were on the lake freeeeeezing our a$$es off and catching nada. There was this one gull that kept cruising the same little spot. Whipped out the binos and could see a lone fishing swirling around. Paddled over and as we got there it went nuts. Both of us hooked up on topwater the first cast, and then both of our bait rods went off too...double double. We worked it for another 45 minutes or so and caught fish after fish...fun!

I'm up for Mendo.

Pat,  not sure yet on the lodging.  The cabin may be rented.  And if it isn't it looks like all the siblings will be up, which means full house.

Coastal weather is so unpredictable in November that I would rather focus on  inland or delta spots. So its Mendocino or the Delta for me.
