Hey , heads up when ordering the lotus mildwater PFD. What they call Orange really looks like red, not even close to orange. I had to call, said i got the wrong color, nope, that's just what they call them was my answer. Wanted Orange for visibility, didn't get it. Otherwise great vest at a very good price.

Hey Joel  I really appreciate your taking time to respond the my PFD questions. I was just about to make a mistake (I hate returning things)
and I do not like tight  restricting clothing. Sounds like L/XL is what I need.

                Thanks!!!!

Bluesquids,

I also appreciate you response on the color thing. I ordered a 24" drift chute recently and ask for high vis color like orange or yellow and so they sent a black one. (I like the chute anyway). This forum has been a big help in matters like this, everyone benefits.   Thanks

Yep, that "orange" is pretty darn red.   But at least it's not yum-yum yellow.

It's a nice PFD, and beggars who buy from REI outlet can't always be choosers who want specific colors!

I feel safer with my drift chute in the water, at least mine is bigger around than a shark is and makes the whole kayak-contraption look less natural.

So the so called color "pop orange" is really red?  The one shown on the site is listed as "fire" and it looks pretty red to me.  I did a search to see if I could find what that "pop orange" color was like and out of all the sites that sell that particular PFD, none had "pop orange"
I'd like to get either the yellow, or red. (yellow for visability on lakes)
Held off ordering it tonight due to the color question.

Keep in mind that a PFD needs to be snug/tight to work properly.  If it shifts up over your head when you go in the drink its not really doing its job.

Points well taken guys.

I finally ordered the PFD on Friday and ask about the color. He told me indeed they are a red and that is the only color he has. I wanted yellow but no go.
Scwafish you are right about the size thing. Joel helped me with that decision and I ordered L / XL instead of XXL that would have been to big. The fellow at the Northern web site  listed earlier in the post has the best price I could find on the web.
Thanks for the feed back                                                    TomB

Well it came on Wednesday. I ordered the vest on Friday and was told it would ship out on Monday and received it on Wednesday. The color is a bright Red as mentioned in posts above. I like the fit and the adjust ability.
Also as mentioned above the supplier Northern Mountain for $ 59.00 + tax (California company) but no shipping cost. The size worked out as expected also, lots of adjustments. Sometimes I wonder if I will ever finish buying gear to get started fishing. Seems like there is always one more major item to buy!!
Needless to say this forum has been very useful to me in figuring what where and when to make this purchase.
Thanks to all that have given input.                                      TomB

Ordered mine on a Saturday night Sunday morning, and had it Tuesday when I got back from yaking Lexington Reservoir!  kinda wanted yellow color, but the red is a nice color.  Got my knife mounted to it already.
