Just today Outback Adventures received the new X-13 in stock and it looks sweet!  We have been waiting about a year for this boat to come out and we think it was well worth the wait.  These are not just prototypes or teaser boats they are ready to be sold.  We have both the Fish and Dive and Rec model versions- one even has the new X-Wing fishing console.

Due to the demand we were only able to secure 4 in stock for retail so if you want one give us a call before they're gone.  We will have a demo / rental model for both the San Jose and Larkspur store locations starting this weekend.

Also this weekend, May 10th and 11th, we will have the X-13 available at our Marin store for FREE 1/2 hour demos (1 hour if no one else is waiting).  Usually we charge for this service so it's a great opportunity to check one of these puppies out.

I'm going to be paddling this kayak in the next couple of days and I'll report back on what I find.  Can't wait!

Those look sweet! I still can't figure out how you get to the front rod holders. I wonder if you could mount a couple of rod holder a little farther back without it causing a problem.

Mahi Mahi,

You're not talking about the ones that are optional and further up on the new deluxe low profile Gator Hatch are you?  Because you should easily be able to hang your legs over and shimmy your way up just a bit, then reach for them similar to accessing your bow hatch (but not as far up).  The Malibu Kayaks X-Factor, Mini-X, and Extreme all have had this setup for a long time and we never hear issues about accessibility.

Mahi Mahi you asked for it... Check out the new X-Wing.  Slide the console with your mounted rod holders right up to you.  You can kick back in your comfy seat all day long now. :smt002

Can we call ahead to reserve a time for the demo or just show up and wait??

I know this has been discussed in another thread, but if you roll the yak in the surf with that X-Wing slider, I foresee major carnage to either the slider, the yak or most likely, both.

Quick question Mr. Outback, do you guys carry Wheeleez kayak carts, specifically the Kayak Cart-Beach?  The Wheeleez website says that you're a dealer.  If so, does the NCKA 10% discount apply to this item?  Thanks!

This is the best looking boat to come out of MK ever, too bad there is no way to easily stuff rods, but the hull looks like a big step in the right direction and the rest of the layout is good.

Agreed. The entire x-wing concept is about the stupidest thing to ever come out, but I am sure someone will buy them.

Any previews of the Stealth 12/14?

I'm waiting for the Tie Fighter version! But that looks like a nice smaller size boat. But with my short arms there is noooo way I could reach the front rod holders.  bsteves like them for his kids spot on the gator hatch.  Makes for a great co-angler position on the boat.  I think we need paddle shirts with all the sponserships like the wallmart tour.

Actually not so. The Extreme and X have their front flush mounts little bit up the side but not all the way next to the front hatch.

Notice how the flush mounts on the X-13 are right up against the front hatch

I was talking to InSeine about this the other night and I think if I had an X-13 I'd put by son Owen on the gator hatch and teach him to be my fishing caddy.  "Owen, pass me the gaff/fish whacker/spinning rod/casting rod".  If I could convert the X-wing into a snack/juice dispenser of some sort I'd be set.

Is there any way you can post a picture of the bottom of the yak?  I love the topside of that yak.

In other news, i'm, pretty sure there are a whole lotta kayak cowboys around here who will have that xwing thingamajig on their yaks.  There is already a few I've seen. :smt003 :smt003 :smt003  They know who they are! :smt005 :smt005 :smt005

What matters is how far away the flush mounts are from you.  On the X-Factor the mounts are not up against the hatch like the X-13 , but they are both at the same distance from the seating position (4 feet).

I just went out and measured my old X and from the seat to the first flush mount it's roughly 2.5 feet. It's 4 feet to the flush mount location next to the hatch. I think that's why Mahi mentioned a little disappointment. You could still mount a rod holder on the middle console it's just that Malibu riders who've become accustomed to using flush mounts on the rails are probably disappointed.
