Does anyone has chest want to get rid off? Wifey is complaining not able to put anything in the freezer and suggested I should get one for baits and fish.

Thanks

I had the same problem - I only was able to use the freezer door shelves till I found a small deep freezer on the curb one day with a free sign. Needless to say it is installed in the garage with some of the wifes stufff in it along with my bait.

If you can save a little bit more, opt for an upright freezer. They cost much more upfront, but the benefits really outweigh the cons. You can efficiently organize and access your frozen foods. With a chest freezer, anything stored at the very bottom will stay there for eternity.

Problem with an upright is that. whenver the door is open, all of the cold air escapes. Not so with a chest freezer.

Bummer... I gave a chest freezer away two weeks ago. Had to get it out before we moved.

I found that the forgotten frozen stuff at the bottom turns into crab bait.

Damn Tony, your parents still haven’t weaned you off breast milk huh? I’m gonna have a word with them one of these days  :smt044

Isn’t it the same thing with chest freezer though? The whole lid opens up. The new ones nowadays are energy efficient, I hardly notice difference in my electric bill. Plus, it doesn’t build up ice inside.

That’s great bro!

No. Cold air sinks. Last week, I forgot to close the lid for a 3 hours. Nothing thawed even the slightest.
