Title: Line Management
Post by: Marc Mc on May 06, 2006, 06:37:47 PM
I have a question for you fine flyfishers.
What do you do to keep the flyline from getting tangled over every little bit on the deck?
I have thought of doing two things. 1) bring a towel that I can unroll. 2) bring my stripping basket.

What do you folks do?

Thanks,
Marc Mc

Hey MarcMc,
Alright guys no snickers please. When you sitting down in your kayak simply pretend the area be tween your legs is a stripping basket, get in the habit of coiling your line like a rope and your getting ready to lasso someone. practice on mooch. I try the towl it gets wet and heavy quick . My stripping basket set to high.
Good line control is the best way.

I guess its all a matter of practice. I just find the line escapes and wraps around the numerous little things scattered on the deck.
Thanks!
Marc

You've hit the nail on the head Marc MC, simply a matter of practice. something else that might help is for the sake  of safety and sanity, with the exception of my fish finder everything is behind me on my kayak particuarly rod holders.
