I think this came from the Sacto Bee today, my daughter sent it to me:

"Fish Virus Kills 600,000 Salmon At Nimbus Hatchery
(CBS 13) SACRAMENTO A fish virus has killed 600,000
juvenile salmon at the Nimbus Fish Hatchery forcing
officials to try and stem the spread.

The Department of Fish and Game said today they are
closing portions of the fish hatchery to try and stop
the virus from spreading to neighboring hatcheries.

The virus called Infectious Hematopoietic Necrosis is
only deadly to fish from the trout and salmon family.
It does not affect humans or other animals.

Hatchery workers is also using specific tools for each
pond to avoid cross contamination.

The hatchery would normally release 4 million salmon
back into the San Francisco bay. Officials do not know
if they will be able to meet that goal this year
because of the disease outbreak.

Fish carrying the virus will still be safe for people
to eat, and many fish caught during the salmon season
are carriers."

That doesn't sound so good.  I hadn't heard about that before and really know little about it.
This sounds like a great topic for Sean/Scwafish to comment on.
