The little Weber Q is nice, but no flavorizer bars

Not sure exactly what the flavorizer bars do except to maybe spread the heat more evenly.
The design of the Q100 grill has solid metal parts that sit directly above the flame. I'm guessing this helps do the same thing.

According to Weber's web page:

"Every Weber Spirit, Genesis and Summit gas grill made today use Flavorizer Bars to direct grease and drippings away from the burner tubes, which cuts down on flare ups tremendously.

An extra benefit of Flavorizer Bars is that they help add that “cooked on a grill” flavor to your food.  Drippings, marinades and juices from food being cooked fall down onto the hot Flavorizer Bars, and are vaporized and circulate back up to the food and add that great, extra flavor."

I have a big @ss Weber gas grill with the flav bars and I ain't buying into their claims.
If they did what they state they do then the bars shouldn't have the build up on them that they have.
I can see keeping the drippings off the tube burners, but it still flares up and the drippings certainly do not vaporize.

Agreed, I find at lower temps on my table top and larger grill, the dripping build up. They might help dissipate heat and keep the burner bars from clogging. I thought the marketing "spin" on it was kinda funny. Wishful thinking?

I have tried using a table top without one after the flavorizer (heat shield) wore out and the grill really doesnt seem to work as well.
