I followed up with the guy that owns the ID guide I use,  hoping it would be for sale again. I got an email back from the company that it selling them.

The folded laminated one is $7. Most everyone should have one with them when fishing for rockfish.

The seller has agreed to give us a one time group buy on 15 or more of 20% off not including shipping. It would make sense if they could be handed out at a tourney. The savings might not amount to enough to justify re-shipping to each individual. Tourney directors might want some.

+1     I returned a nice vermilion because
I couldn't recall how to differentiate between verm & canary. After getting back home I went on a thorough search and ended up with these id cards. By far the most useful imo, with notation pointing out key characteristics.

I've thrown back WAYYY more fish than I should have because of not being able to correctly ID. Have used charts, but man, even with the charts it can still be tough.

In case anyone's wondering about penalties, at the ISE last JanuaryI spoke with a DFG warden about potential criminal penalties and what they where. He said it depends....mostly upon your intent. If you have, say, one yelloweye and you honestly explain you thought it was a canary, he said the fine is about $300 PLUS significant court costs and that itd be an infraction. He said if (in his opinion) you are flagrantly violating the law, you're going to jail for the night and being charged with a misdemeanor.

Maybe change the thread title.  What is the minimum number to get the group buy?

20% off a one time order of 15 or more not including shipping. Might make a good tourney raffle item.
