Nice fish!

What did you catch him on?

I've never caught a WSB.  Are they fighters?

Randy,

Caught him on a blue/white sumo jr iron jig.  I was doing the yo yo thing....down to the bottom, up a few cranks, jigging up and down, etc.  They are great fighters early on, but once they tire out, they are no problem.  Came right up and layed next to the yak...easy lip gaf.

Did you and Pat ever make it down to Big Sur.  I camped with Ed but never made it out on the water...the weather was a little iffy from Limekiln on Saturday, plus we were short on time.

Jim,

Sorry we missed you guys.  We drove down Saturday morning, but the launch looked a bit more exciting than we preferred.  Drove down to Mill Creek and met CraigH and James, then down to Willow Creek.  Same story.  We spent a couple of hours scouting further south and never hit the water.  On the way back, we stopped and spotted Eric and Steve through binocs.  The swell was impressive!  Those guys did great to come back with stringers.

Depending on conditions, we may give it another shot next weekend.

Ed and I checked the weather and decided to stay in Monterey Bay b/c the swell looks high.  something around 8 - 10 ft.  We are going to chase halibut off Del Monte Beach on Saturday morning.....
