Is that thing really the schnizzle that everyone else makes it out to be?

I don't kayak fishing without mine.  If you care about releasing fish unharmed and keeping your hand from becoming a bloody pin cushion, get one!

Mooch even proved you can land a 22 lb halibut with one.  Isn't that enough proof?

Personally, I think those expensive boca grips are joke compared to this floating, maintenance free, $10 multi-tool.

Well....$18 shipped, but yes it seems to be a deal.

I ordered one, so we shall see......

The Boga grips are cool because they also contain an IGFA certified scale, but $150........I'll take the orange clip and dangle it from my scale.

Group IQ is inversely proportional to the size of the group.

A Steelhead always knows where he is going, but a Man seldom does.

Yep, that is my quote.

I only bought it to be a kelp anchor, as the thread suggests....

Been there, done that.  I always get a little freaked lipping a bass with a crankbait in its mouth, but I still do it.

Never been stuck yet (crosses fingers and knocks on wood table).

Bass, schmasss. I'll lip bass with crankbaits no problem. Big fiesty bass, with big nasty crankbaits. But I'll call you over to lip the next halibut or underling that I catch :) I'd like to see how the real men do it...

I actually have a Rapala gripper. I have no doubt that this thing is up to holding anything you'd want to actually get near to in a kayak. But it's made out of plastic and stainless, so it stays on a tether. I think the cost was about $15 or so.

Ace hardware sells bungie cord by the foot.  I have a couple 6 foot lengths with a surgeons loop on one end (put the end through the loop around something to fasten) and a brass clip on the other.  I can clip the clip back to the bungie to make a noose for holding kelp, clip it to another kayak to hold together and absorb shock, clip to sea anchor to absorb shock, or clip to anchor to absorb shock.  I've used it as a stringer in a pinch too.

I guess you could clip it to a lip gripper if one felt the lip gripper held the kelp better than a noose.  I've never really felt a need for a lip gripper since we're required to carry a net anyway.

Josh if you keep using proper bungie cords you are going to lose your "Ghetto Rig King" title  :smt003

If I could have made a scrap piece of 2x4 into bungie cord I would have.   :smt003
