I have a Wilderness Radar 135 and I'm thinking about how I want to transport it in my truck and with a cart. The shape of the hull is different than my Tarpon 120. I saw a cart online that has two parallel pipes oriented bow to stern that looks like it would support the new hull shape. I would prefer to avoid buying another cart though. I haven't looked to see what kind of car racks are being made yet. What are you using, either new or modifying existing gear?

Add ABS pipe on top of existing cart, use cotter pin to attach to cart so you can dismantle if needed.  Size of ABS pipe depends on your hull.  Worked like a charm for me anyway.

That sounds good. I’m not making the picture in my mind though. How are the pipes attached with the pin?

I just bolted the 2" pipe on mine. I could have pinned it, but did not. As far as transport. I have from day one just put it right side up on the Yakima bars. No pads, but you could put noodles on I guess, No issues in 2 years.

I do something similar but use pool noodle and it’s only attached temporarily using a twist tie. Most times I don’t even need the twist ties...if I’m strapping the yak down tight enough.

I got a little nervous about drilling holes in the frame when there are four already. I decided to use a tube strap at least for right now. Your way is a lot more convenient. How much use has it had with the extra holes in it?

Tube straps are the way to go. It wont weaken the metal frame and if the screws brake the pipe, it's an easy fix
