I've tried to explain this to everyone on why I only use a single strap in a way that the wheeleez won't collapse when you hit a rock or something, but they just don't get it!

+1 forward strap only needed for this application. keep it simple.

+1. Best bet is OP. There's also pier 52 launch and a new park with a launch south of pier 52.

Yup, talk to Doug at HMB kayak. Picked up a tandem from him not to long ago. Not the best of color but functional for the family. They have a bunch of new kayaks in and off loading the old ones.
