I caught five out on the San Joaquin yesterday.  Incoming tide.  Nice weather out I was in shirt sleeves for a while.

I didn't keep.  People keep telling me stripers are good eating...

Did you steam with ginger, green onions and soy sauce?  Man, I love fish done that way.

Yes, steam and top with any combo of herbs and/or what you have there.  I learned it with cilantro but am not drawn to it.  Consider all flavor profiles, for Italian/ Basil, fresh tomato or sundried with calamata and capers, For Asian, say Thai, lemongrass, ginger, basil, jalapeño, Vietnamese/ maybe add mint, fish sauce to replace shoyu, American?   Fresh lemon slices with chili powder?  I don’t know, key is to put your flavor combo on top of steamed fish then heat up your favorite oil to smoking and pour over top, “twice cooked”,  then finish with soy sauce drizzle or fish sauce, or vinegar sprinkle, the flavors of the world are your oyster...sauce...hmmm, more ideas(lightbulb emoji)...ikijime striper first and bleed for cleanest meat...Happy New Year... :smt006

Dang Eddie, that sounds hella good.  I've got some halibut in the freezer that needs to be cooked up.  Maybe I'll try with that!  Thanks for the inspiration.

sashimi striper is freaking awesome.  I was surprised how good it was.  I get it from a sushi place, not on the kayak.
