Thanks,    good timing on this thread, and thanks for the links for supplies.   I just lost an eye on my Fenwick  Pacific Stick that I've been using for nearly 30 years.

Gonna get baptised by fire here shortly..

janns netcraft has the same products as mud hole but cheeper. when I restore the rod that started this post I will buy from them. I ahd found mudhole first but then found netcraft from a friends recondmendation

I had an old tuna king rod rebuilt. A rod of the same weight and class may cost 100$ or more. I had a pac bay unibutt custom wrap and marbeling done to it. The rod is beautiful. I dont have the skills to do it myself. The best speed to rotate your rod after coating is 15-18 rpms (per my rod guy) nothing beats seasoned gear.

How long do you usually have to rotate ?
i will check. Im guessing it differs based on temp humidity and type of epoxy. There is a company called mudhole, they have everything to build rods. gary uses a rotisserie motor also.

hey slowriprun I forgot to ask you what is that reel that you are using on the striped bass rod? with all the stuff I got I also got some old reels as well, unfortunately i don't know how to do with these. any suggestions?

Oh yea, worth it. This is a picture of a restored and modified wonder rod and I love it, but know that they're really slow, which doesn't suit every condition. but pretty rods that fish well.

The wonder rod reel seat is Big,,,too big for my 'modern' reels,,,plus, I do like the excitement that an old sticky drag provides. ha. So, I'm using an older Garcia 300 on it.
I'd love to hear if anyone is modifiying older reels with new drag washers and stuff.
And to all that love the glassy rods. Heck yea,,,,,Love 'em. :smt007

Yeah those old glass rods are sweet especially fishing mainline spectra. Be careful removing the guides and wraps. Heating the epoxy finish makes it easier to cut. If the wraps are varnish finished they are easy to remove.

Here's a 1950s rod, rebuilt, recolored and modernized with single foot guides. The reel with it is a brand new/never used Pen Peer 109.
