I'm looking for some suggestions for a decent 30-40lb rod to match up with my penn 113. I'm gearing for blues, yellow tail and thresher sharks.

I was going to wrap the rod myself as I've built rods before, I was looking for suggestions. I wonder if anyone has ever wrapped two rods together, a double barrel rod, lol might be a good gag gift.

Hey Brian... in that case... I'd highly recommend looking at the Pac Bay PBX graphite blanks.

They are an excellent less expensive alternate to the Calstar Graphiters and are of very good quality... light , sensitive, and durable.

They are composite graphite / fiberglass with a graphite butt section and e-glass tip section.  They are awesome blanks.

Try the XG70M for a 20 - 40 # blank, or an XG70ML for a 15-30 # blank.

I think I might have one of these at home that I could sell you if you want to save a few bucks... I'll check when I get home.

I've never used anything over 30lb class rods. I would love to get the blank from you if you have the xg70m, I'm on a budget so I price might be an issue right now.

I'll check what I have tonight... I may have some E-glass blanks that are inexpensive that might suit you just fine as well.
