Fished FLL for the first time ever. Got on the water in the late afternoon. I managed to do one lap of the shoreline before dark. I was towing a medium sized deep diving Rapala. I caught one nice Brown just as I was approaching the Taylor Creek outlet and then two Rainbows as I trolled along the West Shore in front of the Cabins along the drop off and a forth fish that got off the hook. Free launching for kayaks there but make sure to get your boat decontaminated on the day you plan on visiting and have your proof with you.

Thanks for the report.  I've always wanted to fish Fallen Leaf.

What is the proof that is needed other than your yak being dry inside?

See any bears on Taylor Creek chasing the salmon yet?  We're going camping up there in 2 weeks.  Hadn't planned on it, but maybe now I'll bring the yak.  Thanks for the report.

I didn't see any bears. I have seen them closer to where Taylor Creek flows into Tahoe before. If you are planning on camping in the area I would definitely bring a kayak.

You have to go to one of the decontamination stations located around Tahoe. I went to the one in Meyers. It can be a PITA but the process is usually fast on a weekday. They spray the inside of your boat, your paddle, vest and gear that will contact the lake with 140 degree water. They give you some info on invasive species and then give you a certificate that is good for 24 hours. I got to the lake late and nobody asked to see my paper work but I understand that they can be very strict on enforcing compliance.
