Best ocean day in a few weeks hit the Cove yesterday, so a whole host of salmon junkies were there early looking for a bite.  I had an old friend with me as my guest for the day.  Rod hadn't ever kayaked offshore, and we were concerned about possible seasickness since he doesn't do well in that regard when on powerboats (I don't either).  The day was perfect - boat wakes were the biggest challenge!  Rod felt fine out there and we got into some good action with 2 early kings.  The odd thing was that even though we towed choves low over the rocks for over 5 hours straight we only had one rockfish bite!  When you bring in a 19 and 13 pound salmon by 830AM or so it doesn't really hurt to not bring much white meat home, but it was the slowest rockfish bite I've seen inshore at the Cove.

Rod got an indoctrination into the offshore kayak world and had a blast.  Fat sacks of fresh salmon made sure the day was closed out with big smiles.  :smt001

Not everybody got salmon yesterday, but the grade is really nice and should only improve in the coming weeks.

Thanks for the report.  I don't get out fishing these days as often as I'd like and reading your adventures somehow fills the gap.

Especially when you brought 2 salmon and a Pac halibut boatside during the GS weekend, Jerry!!

Thanks again for taking both my salmon and my halibut trips.
