I'm fishing out of Markley Cove on Tuesday for trout/bass.  Who's with me?  I'll be in a dune Outback.....monitoring channel 69....launch around 6:30 AM.

Good luck. On Friday I caught two trout right at the mouth to Steele park. A boater landed two at the mouth to Capell as well. I caught mine toplining a j-7 rapala in firetiger and the other one on the kokanee sized brads super bait. I was still letting line out when that lure got hit. Water was in the mid 60s but I only barely made it to the main lake, stayed south of skiers cove. Saw lots of smallies along the steep shoreline in 3-15 fow. I couldn't get them to bite but others were. Maybe Gecko or someone else that was there for the tourney this weekend can give you better tips.

Where did you launch from? I want to take my family here and possibly camp for a night this weekend. Never fished at berryessa. Looking to get my two little ones on some crappie.

We launched at Markley Cove and you can't camp there but you can at Putah Canyon or Steel Park.

I met up with Old Fart at Markley this AM.  We fished the area hard trying everything in the bag.  The troll wasn't productive as I thought it would but the bass wanted to play.  We worked all the coves and docks in Markley Cove.  I ended the day at 12:30 when my yak seat broke.  My total for the day was 8 bass, mostly spots except for one nice 17 inch smallmouth.  I'd post some photos but I can't figure out how to use Tapatalk.  John stayed a little longer so I'm sure he'll chime in later.

i have never been to this lake but have seen a YT video of fisherman catching big crappies.  is there any fee to fish the lake? fishing permit, maybe launch fee? from their web site i don't see any fee.

Capell Cove is the only free launch on the lake. It cant be a long wait to launch busy days though.  Other areas include Steele Park, Markely Cove, Pleasure Cove, Spanish Flats, and Putah Canyon. Those all have different fees so check on their individual online pages.

There is one other launch. But you'll need wheels. Oak shores day use area.  It's free and opens at 7. If you need or want to get on the water earlier, just park across the street from entrance and wheel it in. They have a paved ramp that goes right into the water too. Good bass fishing and close proximity to the main body trout/kokanee grounds and good catfishin right off the bank

Or whenever they feel like showing up and opening the gate  :smt044 I think it was around 745 the last time I went midweek. I just wheeled around the gate anyways.
