For Sale / FS- Echo TR switch rod. 12’6” 6wt. $280
« on: February 27, 2021, 05:55:26 PM »
Great rod if you like a faster action. Used about a dozen times. Just been sitting in my garage a few years. I bought it because I wanted to try out a faster action and just couldn’t get used to it. So I’m just sticking with my medium action rods.

Model- TR 6126-4.

Tim’s fast action two hander.  Built with a beefy butt section for those abrupt, bottom-hand power applications.  Touch and go to Skagit casting, floating lines to big sink tips.  It’s dialed.

Wanted To Buy / WTB rudder blade for WS Radar 135
« on: November 11, 2019, 07:43:28 PM »
Stupid me forgot to raise the rudder when coming in for a beach landing. Kayak got turned sideways right as i hit the sand and snapped my rudder.

I know this is kind of a long shot but if by some miracle, someone has one they’d like to sell, I’d gladly take it off your hands for a fair price.

I don’t want to have to spend $300 for a whole new rudder kit when I only need the blade.

General Fishing Tips / Good spots for Leopard shark fishing from shore.
« on: October 04, 2019, 03:35:35 PM »
It’s been a long time since I’ve caught one and I’d like to get out and try to land a few. But I don’t know where a good spot is for targeting them. I’ve only ever caught them by accident. Never specifically targeted them.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

General Talk / Rest In Peace buddy...
« on: July 25, 2018, 12:33:28 AM »
My fishing and outdoor buddy of 11 years passed away last night. And I wasn’t even there for his last moments because I’m still deployed.

I know some of you are probably thinking “it’s just a dog.” But he was the best dog anyone could ask for. He was a protector and a best friend. When my first son was born, he protected my son like it was his own. He was obedient and loving and he knew to be extra gentle with the kids.

You are missed already buddy...

To Achilles... you will never be forgotten...

General Fishing Tips / Crawfish spots?
« on: July 15, 2018, 04:04:53 AM »
Does anyone know any good crawfish spots to set some traps?

I was thinking of trying around cosumnes preserve. But not sure if it is a good place. Anyone else know of any good spots around the delta?

When I was a kid and the salmon were running up to nimbus, my dad would fish for salmon and I’d go catch crawfish. Back then, every rock you flipped over had a hand full of crawfish under it. But now, I rarely see any at the river.

Any help would be appreciated.  I’ll be back stateside in September so I’ll be hitting the water ASAP and trying to plan some trips.

Hobie Kayaks / Hobie PA12 in the ocean
« on: April 21, 2018, 12:54:47 PM »
Trying to decide on a kayak for my dad. Leaning more towards the Hobie PA12. But I’m also considering the JK Coosa FD and the old town predator PDL.  We will be doing mostly ocean fishing but definitely some lake and delta fishing mixed in there.

Just looking for some input from anyone with a PA12 that fishes in the ocean. How do you like it? I’m sure it’s plenty stable, but is it really significantly slower than other kayaks like the outback and other pedal type kayaks?  Would he be better off on maybe the Coosa or predator?

He is new to kayaking and kayak fishing. That’s the reason I’m looking for something that’s big and stable. But at the same time, I don’t want him to get stuck in a slow kayak in the ocean if the conditions go to sh!+ and we need to get back in ASAP or in the delta and the current starts ripping.

Gearing Up and Rigging Up / WiMius camera. Any good?
« on: April 11, 2018, 12:13:13 PM »
Been looking around for some cheaper alternatives to gopros because I’m cheap. And also because I’d like to have more than one camera setup.

I heard from a coworker that bought one of these, that they’re actually pretty damn good for the price. I’m probably gonna pick up two and put them thru the paces once I get back home.

Has anyone else heard of or tried one of these?

Gearing Up and Rigging Up / Piscifun chaos reel
« on: March 23, 2018, 11:12:45 PM »
I always look around for new reel companies or overseas ones that are relatively cheap but still good quality, especially for the price. I came across this one and for the most part, it’s got good reviews. I was just wondering if anyone on here has tried one of these reels out.
