Jesus. Here we go again.

After all of the previous discussions here and all of the media and signs, etc. asking people not to go ruin stuff for others.

What a complete lack of common sense and common courtesy some of our members have shown lately.

Do we start deleting these types of posts or do we let them stay and let these people get the verbal beat down that they deserve?

Serious question.
Delete it no matter what someone gonna have a smart answer and someone isn't gonna like it and it will only get worse.

General Talk / Re: Battery suggestions!

What Lipo batteries would you prefer? Will be using it on lowrance hook 4 fish finder. Current battery sat for a few months and now wont last even 4hrs when it used to last an easy 8hrs. I have a good charger and is stored in garage. I'm guessing from sitting without charge shortened its life. So now in the market for a Lipo battery that will be able to last and charge faster then a SLA battery. Thanks in advance Aloha!!!

I keep my SLA battery on a smart charger 24/7. Recently I purchased a Wilderness Systems Lithium Battery. I've only used it a couple times so I can't give an informed review yet. They are worth taking a look at.
I'm gonna do that and see if it helps restore the battery.

General Talk / Re: Hook 4 FF HELP!!!!
« on: August 21, 2016, 10:51:12 PM »
I cannot remember where this originated, but it worked for me when I was learning how to use an Elite-4 HDI.  Might help you, too:

"2D: High Chirp= 200kHz, MID CHIRP=83 kHz Low=50kHz.  I run in HIGH CHIRP.

"DI- 800kHz offers best resolution while 455 has better depth penetration. I always just use 800kHz for all the waters I am in.

"The SONAR SETTINGS: GENERAL USE/FRESHWATER/SALTWATER/TROLLING/DEEP WATER/SHALLOW WATER is critical. I use SHALLOW water when I am in 60 ft. or less (which is most of the time for me) I will switch to FRESHWATER for anything deeper than that. Not even in the near shore salt! The manual clearly states  "Use FRESHWATER mode when fishing in less than 100 feet of water; otherwise your unit may not track bottom properly"

"Leave Sensitivity in AUTO until you get a good handle on EVERYTHING else. Then you can fine tune with this setting once you become a learned pro. *NOTE: you can even make small adjustments (+/- 40%) to the sensitivity with AUTO turned ON!

"I find Ping speed in NORMAL is best.

"Range: Auto

"I turn Noise Rejection OFF. We have no other devises or engines on our kayaks that need filtering.

"Surface Clarity- I will go back and forth on this one depending on water conditions. Murky- set to LOW. Clear water set to HIGH for more sensitivity. (This was backwards in my mind before I learned a thing or two)

"Color line: leave this at the default 76%.

"Color palates: I leave them at factory defaults"

It didn't take long for me to start making my own adjustments once I knew what these settings did.

Good luck.
Ohh man this is some good info my braddah thanks a lot!!!![emoji106] [emoji106]

Are you saying your having a hard time reading your fish or fish depth
Since your new to the hook 4  try changing the id so it shows a fish symbol not as good as reading arches but good to start with also when viewing down scan fish will alert as stars I like to run ff next to df so I know I am not confusing things I can often rule out a parcal arch by looking at the ds that said not all fish will show up on your ff as I have got a lot of fish without a hit on my ff
Yes a buddy said the same abt the down scan I actually have just started doing that. Also I was wondering as far as settings go what do you usually run? Auto depth, sensitivity, contrast, etc?
