Each year is a little different, but got out and dropped some pots in different areas and depths.  Usually we have to find where the crabs are congregating, but not on this trip.  Every pot had crabs.  Many were 7” plus.  Nice to see such a great number of crabs showing up in Ft Bragg.

I'm planning on launching kayak off Noyo beach on Saturday, dropping crab pots in the bay, and spearing some fish around the headlands.

I've never dropped a crab pot or dove that area. Decent plan or should I try somewhere else?

Thanks for the report

If you drop pots make sure you have a weight on the rope so it stays underwater and keep it out of the Channel.  Lots of boats go through and some have line cutters on their props.

Usually you can find some fish out there but you may have to venture a tad away from the protected cove if you want to dive. The rain we are having will muddy up the area around the cove.
