Mooch,

I have forgotten what I told you earlier about the specs for the hatch.
So here
goes again.
The overall OD is 8 1/4"  that fits inside the available area on a
prowler and
has a 6" ID . The overall height is 2 1/4" . I made it tall enough to
not leak
into the kayak even in rough conditions. My idea was to make it tall
and it
could be shortened if necc. Well I never felt the height was a problem
so I left it
alone. I worried about room for the family jewels but that has not been
a
problem. Also there are no threads to become jambed with sand. I have
turned my
kayak over several times to test the water tightness and so far no
leakage at
all. The flange is PVC and 1/2" thick the tubing part of hatch is
approx, 1/4"
thick there are also 12 screw holes for mounting . All this is enough
to support
your weight and to  bang around with no damage. I own a very expensive
high tech
piece of equip call a CNC router and I can make a lot of other items
that could
be useful on a kayak. I just need ideas and inspiration.
I might have left some details out if you have any questions just ask.
As of now
I do not know what cost might. The market might be very small or big I
do not
know now. The bigger the market the cheaper they would be. Maybe no
interest at
all!!  Who knows ?? At any rate it was fun making and the one that I
have and
that was worth the effort. Let me know what you think. Thanks..

Incidentally I can make 8" ID if the need arises.

What is that black thing they're using as a cover?
How is that big hose clamp used?

The clamp in the picture is not needed and I should have left it out of the pic.
It comes with the rubber cap so I included it . If you have a prowler you know how low in the water the top of the hatch area is so that is why to top of the hatch is as high as it is It can be cut shorter if desired. I didn"t find the height to be a problem. That is a personal call.
