I'm with Mooch and others - good story, Mooch.  Salmon - never know if you get a dink or a 50#+, you're not killing a decades-old specimen when you get a big one, the meat is outrageous and healthful, and, like Joel said, the lifecycle is awesome.  To be able to commune with nature each December watching big kings spawn and then chase them around in the ocean in the Summer is really cool.  Lingcod is a close second.   :smt001

I used 12# mono with a bass rod and my very first baitcasting reel (Shimano Curado).

Why I love salmon more than any other fish.....because it's the most beautiful of them all. :smt007 I believe it tastes better then any other fish  :smt045 And the fight it gives is truly amazing :worship And I really admire the life cycle of these fish....truly an inspiration....from the birth, the journey and the death  :smt023

Salmon have definitely got it over most everything else in the mystique department If you want to really get a taste of that get in the water with them at night

Until I started trolling it was 12lb test and light gear It's the ticket for mooching, I have my eye on a nice rod at FW
