Don't know if this is a report/hook up or................

Finally got a chance to visit the Hatchery in Folsom. WOW!!!!!! :smt103 :smt104 :smt119 :smt118  They are in, and I guess it's just starting. Something seemed odd and sad that people were so close to the hatchery and fishing, for the fish are piled up. I even talked to a few guys that had snagged a few, and were released.( so they say)

I was amazed @ how many fish were there and their size. I'm not sure how to target these beauties or where to launch from, but I'm defiantly on the hunt. If I am lucky, it will be release time, these are beautiful fish.

Just wondered if anyone has experience in this area.

BTW, for those reading this, I know 1 reg is; if you see a second dorsal fin ( adipose fin? ) it means it's wild and has to be released, endangered species........

Probably going next Friday Morning.....Late start between 8-9.................Danglin

Don,
Another reg: barbless hooks are required on some parts of the river. Nimbus dam to Ancil Hoffman park is barbless.

I bought my steelhead card this year but haven't gone out yet. Hope you do well.

Not just the fish that are amazing. There are beaver in the river, ospreys in the trees, and there used to be one whopper of a 4x4 buck that hung out just downstream of  Howe, kinda accross from the water treatment plant.

If they are in on the American, I ought to float the lower Yuba...

Scott..Those are the good things along the AR.

This is a bad thing in the AR:

Sac Bee 1/10/07

A man suspected of stealing a motor home found himself foiled by the American River Wednesday morning when he apparently tried - desperately - to escape police.

The man, whose identity was not immediately known, triggered a massive law enforcement pursuit shortly before 10 a.m. in Citrus Heights. The California Highway Patrol, Sacramento County Sheriff's department and Sacramento police joined the pursuit, trailing the meandering motor home with canine units and helicopters, as it drove down an embankment off Sunrise Boulevard, according to early dispatch reports.

Officers contemplated breaking off the pursuit, but the driver of the motor home was so erratic that he started hitting other cars, Citrus Heights police Lt. Thomas Chaplin said. They followed the vehicle on numerous streets including Greenback Lane, Mariposa Avenue and then southbound on Sunrise Boulevard.

"He was all over the place," Chaplin said.

Then came the American River.

In a matter of minutes, the man abandoned the vehicle before he jumped in the river. He reportedly took off his shirt, and officers plucked him out with a borrowed fishing boat.

The condition of the stolen motor home was not known.

We have been visiting a spot on the American River right in the middle of town and have done well!   It is beautiful down there, and the water has been good too.  Hopefully this rain will stir the fish up a bit.  Hope the weather will clear up on Sunday so we can head down there again.  Here are some pics of the fish we caught three weekends ago:
