Gonna hit sc tomorrow. Launching around daybreakish. Green kayak. Off around 11 to go downtown for pumpkin stuff with kiddos. Will troll to start but will probably bait fish if i dont catch since I want some trout carcasses for crab bait.

Fishing was good. Met up with FishinAddict, P-Sherman and Lucky13.  I was first kayak out, not that it helped me. Others showed up after sunrise, and started the troll. I was still bait fishing with no luck.  Started trolling around 9ish, lost a couple fish and then started getting into them around 10:45.  Was able to pick up 5 fish and lose a couple from 10:45-12pm.  All toplining, mostly rapalas but also got a few hits trolling micetails.

Everyone else did well, catching fish on various offerings.  Boaters also limited bait fishing.

If you want a relaxing day fishing for trout, this is the time of year to do it.  Shadow cliffs should be providing limit style action until December when it starts getting cold and slowing down a bit for trolling.

Great fishing with you, Ben!

I joined Fishinaddict and Lucky13....started around 8am.

I guess I'd have to say, I had the "Hot Rod".... I would have limited out early if I didn't kept throwing back the 5th trout (C&R). I counted a total of 11 fish for me, all caught top lining.

Pictures are always worth a thousand words....

I don't normally catch many fish, but I rubbed off some luck from my fishing buddies that day. By the way, Ben thanks for the Rapala BX. I caught my go-home fish with that. It dives deeper than the J7. I think it would work well when the water gets warm in late morning/noon.

What a fun day fishing with you guys!  No bite pattern for me.  I had to keep switching things around to get a bite.

Nice report!! I was able to get a limit today at shadow cliffs. I got some nice fillets and crab bait. All five fish wanted only one lure and I caught them all on top. Whenever I used the downrigger I caught bass.

A good time, yes.  But nothing to write home about as far as the lake itself.  It's small, surrounded by quarries, with no spectacular views. You have much nicer reservoirs nearer to you.  I live nearby and am there for practice swims, but wouldn't be my go-to place for trout... although they do stock regularly.

Small reservoir with a bunch of trout. Planted Lassen trout are fat and delicious. I live in Fremont so I frequent Quarry lakes and Shadowcliffs with my wife. Will be at SC this Sunday fishing from shore!

i probably wouldnt go there either if i wasn't 5 minutes away.

But I don't like del valle's inspection process, so I don't go there.  Quarry isn't exactly any more scenic.

I'd probably choose Chabot but its a bit of a hike with a loaded down kayak and it's about 30 minutes further away so that's an hour longer away from home and the wife probably wouldn't go for it.

Ditto.  I still fish there, as like you, I live only 15 minutes away.  I'm too lazy to fish anywhere else for trout, except going to Quarry lake occasionally.  I would one day like to go somewhere scenic and try for browns or maks, just to check it off my species list, but I like the ocean too much and don't know jack when it comes to freshwater fishing

Hey!! Look at those guys. I guess it's time for real trout and golf course fishing. I'll try when the weather gets better and make a day of it. Thanks for sharing the report. :smt001
