It seems my friend Jim was a bit jealous of all the cool gadget's on Mooch's prowler and decided he need to do something about it.  I stopped by his place to go fishing and he had to show me his new rotating rod holder that he mounted on this kayak.

Joel,  if you want one I'm pretty sure Jim said he could set you up with one pretty cheap.

looks great Jim :smt002 !  - but does it affect the stability of the yak?  :smt003

By the way, I just purchased a scupper pro from scallen - I'll be doing some custom work on it as well. IMO: the the seating arrangement of the scupper pro reminds me of a race car! You just feel like you're a part of the yak! Can't wait to take it out for a spin!

Hey Jim - do you have flush mounts rod holders on both sides of your scupper pro? Does the rod get in the way of your paddle stroke?

The scary thing is that Joel might actually try to mount one on his kayak!

Joel... my good friend... I'm not try to bust your chops.... but I remember you saying that the Scupper Pro seat area was too narrow for you wide ass.  I know it won't fit mine.

very true brother chuck...but this will give me incentive to loose weight  :smt002 I actually test paddled this boat at last year's paddlefest - but only for about 5 minutes...and my fat ass did fit but it did not seem very comfortable at the time (maybe the seat wasn't as good) I sat on my newly acquired scupper pro and outfitted it with a cobra high back seat and it seemed comfortable - I'll be taking it out on the HMB harbor for a "longer" test drive....

I'm bitter.  I was really hoping to buy SCAllen's boat...

I guess the Mooch is just better at snagging cheap stuff than I am.

Seriously, I'm jealous that he's faster than I am.  The only thing I can do about it is go buy a shiny new boat and then lord it over him for the next few years.  It's all part of my grand plan to win the lottery and retire to kayak fishing everyday.

Sorry I beat you to it BigRed - but I've always wanted to get a smaller, lighter, faster kayak for my "non-fishing-friends". I'm very pleased with the condition of this yak - Allen really took good care of it - and to top it off, the yak already comes rigged with a Eagle-Fish Easy FF. One less thing for me to "pimp out"..... :smt003

Joel:

I have one on the right side and I have a Scotty mount rod holder mounted to the center console, since I don't yet have a fish finder, although my WAF score has reached approval level.  I have pix on my home computer I will try to upload for you tonight.  I have had no probs with paddling.  I agree the cockpit of the scupper pro is sleek.  Fortunately I'm a little guy, but well endowed I assure you.  I can cut you a deal of you want a rotating rod holder.

Jim - if you can make a "smaller" version of your patented Rotating Rod Holder (RRH) = I'd be all over it  :smt002

looking forward to your scupper pro pimping pics  :smt023

I like the concept of the rotating rod holder. I am going to glue a bunch of PVC to the sides of a keg to hold my rods and mount that to a lazy susan.
Don't worry, I will have a stash of cups aboard so I can share with all my paddling buddies.

Thanks for the pics Jim - I'll be posting pics of my pimp-ride scupper pro soon....just added some upgrades to it a few days ago. I'll be ordering a couple of flush mount rodholders to install on the backside - right behind the seat.

How's that center hatch working out for ya? Does it stay dry and have you had any problems with the lid getting stuck?
