Just because someone died while infected does not mean they died BECAUSE of the virus.

Then can we agree to end the speculation on both sides and just stick to the facts and the impacts this is having on us as individuals and we as a neighborhood/City/County/State/Country?

First time on the internet?

Yep... did you know you can find pictures and everything on here?   :smt003

Antibody tests suggest that coronavirus infections vastly exceed official counts:
Study estimates a more than 50-fold increase in coronavirus infections compared to official cases, but experts have raised concerns about the reliability of antibody kits.

Just what point are you trying to make.  It appears that you are arguing that this is no worse than the flu.  Those in the medical field will tell you this is worse than the flu.

The point is

We don't have enough data to answer the question.

Then can we agree to end the speculation on both sides and just stick to the facts and the impacts this is having on us as individuals and we as a neighborhood/City/County/State/Country?

The article states a .9% death rate. 6 times worse than the flu by comparison

Heard a conservative talk radio host (Tom Sullivan) ask an interesting question.

Do the people protesting shelter in place/social distancing holding up Trump signs understand that it is Trump + Pence + Fauci that have given the same National guidance?

So much for facts.  :smt012

Flu death rate isn’t questioned even though underlying illness may exist.

Peace ✌️.

Stop with the facts.  It just messes up the editorial comments.  :smt044

I can compare the flu to covid based on data provided.

% of death from flu (worst case scenario = highest # of deaths/lowest number of cases) (62,000/39,000,000 is 0.16%

% of death from covid (reported deaths/reported cases) (40,565/764,265) is 5.30%

Given these numbers, covid is roughly 33 times worse than the flu.

To be the same as the flu, there needs to be roughly 25,000,000 more cases without anymore deaths.

I have the 110 and I love it. I fish lakes and the delta and have had no problems with it.

So IF I follow the reasoning of e kayaker then this is just fake news and scare tactics and just a big hoax in America. I guess then the same must be true throughout the world. No big deal here just another mild flu bug. Wow that’s a relief 😅

General Talk / Re: Full Fishing Closure?
« on: April 16, 2020, 10:20:26 AM »
I was on the call for the first couple hours. They reassured everyone that there was no intention for a full closure, only for those fisheries and in those counties and tribal areas where they had a request from local government. My county supervisor asked for what amounts to a local veto power over proposed emergency actions. It’s what we discussed last week when I contacted him, and Del Norte and Trinity Counties both made the same request on the call. I could live with that if that’s how it works.

I’d expect the delay of the trout openers in Inyo, mono, and alpine counties is imminent.

Thank you. I appreciate your consistent and calm response.

Hopefully, the counties that are requesting closures are "surgical" with the closures and do not just close the entire county.  I live in Placer County; which stretches from near Sacramento to the Nevada border.  (Truckee River and Folsom Lake and everything in between.)  I do not know where the County stands as far as closures go but many of our lakes and waterways are closed to vehicles; which makes launching a kayak difficult so all that we have left is bank fishing after a hike.  I for one am looking forward to the easing of restrictions.

Based on trumps own words be ready for a dictator if he is re-elected. He is scarier than the disease
I just had a discussion about this kind of thing this morning. Why do I keep hearing how Trump is going to be a dictator. He is going to do something  bad. He will be terrible. How about dealing with what he is doing rather than whatever irrational fears are out there.

I don't know about others fears but my "irrational fear" is not a fear but is based on the words that come from his mouth.  Any President saying he has total authority is delusional or is leaning toward a dictatorship.   You can spin this anyway you want but it takes first ignoring him at his word.

Today, the CA governor plans to announce the process of easing restrictions (in conjunction with Oregon and Washington)

but according to our President, he has total authority. Should we be just a little concerned that Trump thinks this?  (let alone that he says this?)
