FYI - For NCKA members fishing the Monterey Bay area, Jim Franco, owner of J&D Auto Repair & "Gone Fishin'" is offering NCKA members discount prices on selected fishing tackle and supplies.

The address is: 1675 Contra Costa (off Del Monte) in Sand City. This is only a few miles north of MBK. Email at kokanee_fisher@yahoo.com. The building has an auto repair shop on the ground floor and an unbelievable fully stocked tackle shop on the second floor.

Prices are very reasonable and Jim is full of knowledge and up to date on fishing information for the Monterey Bay area. This shop is well worth the visit.

Ben,

Thanks for the tip.  That is just a hop skip and jump from my house!  Don't tell my wife.   :smt003 .

Sand City is right next to Seaside. Not the same but are neighbors.

I talked to Jim the other day when I was buying fishing supplies.  He gave me the 10% on my stuff, but I discovered that the discount was supposed just apply to certain rods and reels and stuff, but not everything.  Some brands are difficult for him to mark down.  I figured I would post this cause he's a good guy and didn't want to see his generosity taking advantage of too much.  Unfortunately his store is the only one with a good supply of tackle in the area.  The good thing is that he seems keen to what kayak fisherman like to buy and is always asking for recommendations on what to carry.
