OK so I got my first trip under my belt with my new yak and what a fun time I had even without getting a single bite!
I spent many days surfing this site and many others getting instruction on how to do things more time then I care to admit but I will say it was time well spent. It was only a city pond but perfect size for me to get on and paddle around and figure out how to make turns use the rudder and just general maneuvering around structures. cant wait to get back on the water again!!

I do have some other questions ones I could not find answers too on here. I did buy I yak used but it might has well been brand new as the previous owners used it so little and did no modifications to it. One question I have is from looking at the photo below can someone tell me if I can modify this model to use one of the OC rod pod covers?
Also this baby looks bare I thinks she needs a few accessories but just not sure where to start.
I have looked over the rigged yaks forum many times and just a ton of great ideas I just have no idea where to start. That and I know my wife is going to kill me when she sees how much I spend to fix this baby up!

Up for any ideas  :beer3
Thanks from the rookie!!

Welcome to the maddness.

As far as the rod pod I would say no the newer ones have a space both a lip for the lid

Keep an eye on the small screw-in center hatch. If your a heavy guy like me (240 to 250 pounds) the water line tends to creep up on that hatch. Also, those screw in hatches tend to get stuck if dirt or sand  get in the grooves so keep 'em clean. My buddy could not get his car keys one time cause the dirt and grime got in there  :smt011

I would get this hatch instead....

* By the way, that Prowler 15 is one hell of a kayak! I've paddled and owned MANY different kayaks, and the P-15 is one the best  :smt045

Good luck and welcome to the madness  :smt006

Glad you got out there, there is nothing quite like hitting the water for the first time. My only advice when it comes to mods is take your time, rod holders are great when mounted where they need to be but drill too soon and they can get in the way.
I had a buddy with a Bimini that put two Scotty rod holders right between his legs. He thought that was where he would like them but once he got on the water realized it got in the way of paddling a little.
Maybe start with a crate to hold tackle, rods and a flag/light.
Can't wait to see your first kayak fish!  :smt001
