I am thinking about looking into a Jackson Kilroy for hunting and fishing.  Anyone know a shop that has one to demo?  I live west of Santa Rosa.  Thinking about fly fishing out of the boat for bass and trout.

Was curios about how well the boat will work as a layout blind and if it is stable enough to shoot out of?

Thanks

Matt

This is what the kilroy was built for, flyfishing and hunting became a wonderful addition. There are some Jackson pro-staff that love it for duck hunting, as for demoing one that would be headwaters in Lodi or cck in Sacramento, I haven't been in one myself but all the reviews from my fellow Jackson team really love it and I know that a new member here at ncka just picked one up from Dan at headwaters, Cameron

I will be taking mine out on the 1st for the maiden voyage I never demoed one before buying it so I can't really give any input on how it is right now

Please let me know what you think of it when you get it on the water.

I demoed one from Dan (Headwaters) awhile back and love that kayak.  It has tons of room in it and is very stable.  I even stood up in the kayak without using the standup assist strap.  I took it out on the Delta with my 5 year old sitting in front of me.  I did however remove the console piece from the boat to do this.  I do plan on getting one of these as my goto freshwater boat someday.

Just got back from my first trip with the Kilroy and here's my thoughts, I love it! Now seeing as how I have never been on or in a kayak before I have nothing to compare it to but I thought it handled well and standing up was a breeze with or without the stand assist strap. All in all I would say the Kilroy is definitely the right boat for me

Does it appear that a trolling motor is possible to mount anywhere?  In thinking about using this in the delta, a pole is defiantly a necessary, just thinking about moving around.

Not sure how one would go about mounting a trolling motor but with some ingenuity I'm sure anything could be done

I also plan to fish mine in the delta but I'm just going to paddle it
