While I was in Tennessee visiting the Jackson factory, I got a sneak peak at the plug for this new kayak. Tony was still in the process of shaping it when I was there. Now its done and the first prototypes will be coming soon. I'm looking forward to the opportunity to test the prototype here in the next few months.

The kayak is narrower than the Cuda, over a foot longer, more rocker bow to stern, and a large raked bow for punching through waves. The seat has been lowered to drop the paddlers but just over the water line length. Because of that, they were able to tweak the chines and give the boat a much sportier feel. Last time I talked to Tony, it will not have a the ability to go Hi-Lo, just low sleek and fast. There is a lot of trick stuff going on with the deck layout as well, but I've probably already said more then they want me to say. The blog does not reveal a ton, but you will get the general idea of the hull design.

Did you notice those kissoffs/scuppers down the side?

You would think we could get a better photo, but I guess they want to keep us guessing.

Looks like it has great potential... can't wait to see the deck and try one on the water.

The kraken! This kayak is going to be big news. A kayak specifically designed for west coast off shore fishing. People have been asking and it looks like Jackson has answered. No deck photos yet because they haven't finalized the design. Got to love a fishing kayak that's designed hull first.
