Title: Dropshotting for Perch and DRONE CRASH
Post by: RHYAK on March 01, 2018, 10:20:41 AM
Last week spent it in Cambria and between windy days managed a couple hours pounding the Surf...

Got out and fished with Ben for a little bit as well.

Plus said goodbye to my NEW drone.

Vid wouldn't play for me.  Bummer on the drone, man.

Always great to see a father-son fishing outing.  WTG, buddy.  :smt001

Sorry about your drone.  Is it repairable?  Thanks for the report, pictures, and video Ryan.

So DJI does have an insurance you can buy that covers everything from water damage on down.

One catch you have to be able to retrieve the drone and send it to them for replacement. I was not even able to find the thing. Stupid bluffs.

No GPS on the drone for finding it?

Hi Ryan,
From the still picture after the crash, looks like it's in the bush to your left.  Did you comb that area?

Yeah, so it was in an area that was not accessible, maybe if I had some rock climbing gear.

It is pretty much of the first ridge in this picture. Spent about an hour walking through poison oak and brush to try and get to the thing with no luck.

major bummer on the lost drone. Maybe another drone pilot will help you out and try a rescue mission :) If I was close by I would bust out my mavic pro with the dji goggle and try and locate it for you. Maybe even attach a hook or something and try to grab it.

Great video at any rate :)

I'm tempted to get the Mavic Air since it has backward sensor which would have helped in your case.

Bummer about losing the drone, but that great time and experience you had with your son cannot be purchased at any price....

Priceless with your son there!  I've so not used my DJI Spark because Im afraid of fly-aways, so whats the point.  I'm gonna use it and if its lost so be it.  Move on.  DJI is Chinese military subsidized anyway.
