I know some guys here like to pick up odd jobs every now and then.

So I have this bamboo grove ... that has got to go.  Every year I get escapees, even though I have a barrier 30" deep.  This year is no exception, however in addition to escapees, I have some foundation damage that may be caused by the bamboo.  The grove is like 8'x14', or something close to that.  Digging this grove up will entail removing it all, including chasing down all escapees.  Nothing can remain lest it grow back.

I know nothing about how to do this, but if anyone is looking for some bamboo and would like to salvage some, the grove is Vivax, with stalks up to 4" wide and 40 feet tall.  You're welcome to take whatever you want.  It's aggressive as hell.

Rate is negotiable.  This is in San Jose.  What is a good rate for hard labor like this?

Now ... anyone down here do foundation inspections/work?

Bamboo fishing poles?

Vivax has walls that are too thin to make anything structural out of.

Make bait tubes? Will look way classier than ABS pipes.

Vivax makes good serving trays.

Well, I got a shit ton of it if anyone wants to get artsy.  The plot I want dug up is fairly full.

And if anyone wants some bamboo shoots (to eat!), now is the season as the shoots are starting to come up.

Come hack it up this weekend if you want!

I have several 24" diameter pots and thinking maybe put 2 to 3 of them per pot.  Will this work?

I think even with the slightest of winds, you'd stand a chance of toppling them.  Although they probably won't grow 40' contained in a pot like that.  I think when I first bought them years ago, the clumps came in 20 gallon pots, and the stalks were only 1-2" in diameter and at most 20' tall, if that.

Can you get a mini-excavator in there? Need explosives? :smt073
Live your life, the way you want to be remembered. Don't have any regrets, we only get this one dance to make it count. Start at your eulogy, and work backwards.

That's going for it! Agent Orange is no longer legal to use. ATD probably has some CD's by the punk band of the same name that might kill it though.
