Title: Opinion on vibe sea ghost
Post by: DavidMel on April 16, 2018, 10:10:52 AM
I'm about to spend $900 or less on a paddle kayak and will be testing out some kayaks this weekend in Lodi.  Any advice from anyone with experience will help as i am a newbie to this.  I plan to fish lakes (no rivers or oceans) and perhaps the delta once i gain enough experience.  My budget is tight but the vibe seaghosts seem to get nothing but positive reviews and the 110 and 130 will fit in my budget.  I am 6 2 and 210lbs.  My center of gravity is high so I do not anticipate standing. :smt003

I have the 130 and love it.  It's a great deal and fishes great.  Mines been in lakes, delta, and ocean.  I haven't tried standing in it yet as I don't think I can do so and stay dry.  But the yaks that do seem that stable weigh another 20-40 pounds.  I think it's a good trade off.

Thanks snipeworm.  I have not heard anyone that has a vibe sea ghost say a bad thing about them.

If you're coming out this weekend to Lodi Lake try it out in person.  It should be a great fit for a beginner.  There will also be models from other companies that will fit your budget and be capable boats, including some from FeelFree and 3 Waters.  Native also has a new paddle boat coming out but I don't know if it will make the demo day by this weekend. It is called the Manta Ray XT and should be a good value at $899.

There are some good deals in the Classifieds right now too...like Simplycook’s rigged T13 for $600 or the Pescador for $375.

Congrats on the purchase. I have a 2017 SG 110. I’m very happy with it and had the same budgetary constraints as yourself. The 110 was a huge upgrade from my Lifetime Tamarack 10’ which I still hold dearly in my heart because it’s what got me passionate about this sport.

I paddled every kayak that was available at paddlefest and met some great people and reps all with great advice.  For me the 110 offered everything I was looking for in stability, tracking and speed
