I'm looking to put a fish finder in my new kayak.  I have a Malibu Pro Explorer and will primarily be fishing on the lake, but will occassionally head over to the ocean.  I want something that I can remove easily as to scuba dive from my yak.  I would like to keep it under $150, but certainly don't want something cheap in quality.

Please let me know your feedback on the popular one's.

Thanks

Steve

This site has good, simple reviews that reflect what I have experienced and heard.  I have no idea if the vendor is any good.  In the $100-200 range any of the Eagle or Matrix units are a good purchase.

The Piranha Max line is nice and cheap, but the mounting kinda sucks.  The bracket is too flimsy for repeated removing.

I think Humminbird 5XX line is easy to remove leaving just the mount with wiring on your deck.

The other option would be to mount it on RAM holder.

I'm new too and am just getting my Malibu Extreme ready. I just got a matrix 25 from Cabela's for 159.00 marked down from 200 something on line.

I have a matrix 25 they are nice. Watch out for water in the screen though, it takes a while for it to "defrost". A little annoying but not a show stopper.
