I live in an apt. in Livermore (3rd floor) and I want to buy a sit-on-top kayak for fishing, mainly in freshwater.  I used to have an inflatable kayak that wasn't bad, but I want a SOT.  The problem is storage.  Would anyone happen to know if there is a facility in the East Bay that would store a kayak for a reasonable price?

I might stick with an inflatable again, but the SOT's are so awesome looking.  Plus I could use a little more speed.

I would appreciate any help.

I used to have the same problem - I just paid a friend who had garage space a minimal monthly fee (or fresh caught fish  :smt023 ).

Or you can find a neighbor with  backyard space and offer a storage fee. (just make sure you cover the yak with a tarp)

Good luck!

Berkeley marina stores kayaks for $25, but that's the only specific kayak storage that I know of.  You might just want to rent a storage unit and keep all your fishing stuff, ect, in there like a garage, and other stuff to keep your house generally uncluttered.

My tandem used to lean against the wall in my bedroom before I upgraded to a pad with a garage.  Glad it was a first floor apt...

Fortunatly I own my place (or will in 3 yrs!) so my outback will be  spending quality time stuck to my ceiling in my living room.  I just purchased all the pully's clevices, nuts & bolts and lag screws, and 100' of 1/4 braided nylon rope.  All I need a nice peice of oak and the kayak to measure spacing.  Now, can I remember how to splice a loop in the rope?
