I trolled most of the day.  My first plan was to head to moss and back dragging a plug for a thresher, but i just didn't have the legs.  Only made it to Marina before the swell and fatigue caught up with me.  Ran into jumbo smelts like 14" that wanted to mate with my plug, lol.  ran into a couple people out by the yellow can, saw a verm caught, that was it.  Ran into freddie with his boys.  Someday, i'd like to do this with my kids if i'm ever so lucky.

the BBQ was fun.  And, like I always do, i tried to stick it to the MBAq by grabbing a random young couple from the crowd and walking them through the members' entrance.

Thanks to all who showed up for this epic derby! It was a pleasure to meet some of you and to touch base with old friends. We had a great turn out for this derby and there were some quality fish brought to the scale.Special congrats to Sin Coast for placing with his first kayak halibut and to Bear, whose fat ling scored him a much needed T-13.Good times! :smt003

WoW It was alot of fun seeing everyone again and meeting new people.  Congrats the the winners and MBK for this great event.  Me and Javier drove down there Friday evening and quickly found MBK.  While trying to find something to eat we ran into Eric(yakhopper). It was good meeting you. Our day went slow for the most part but it still is better than being at work..after the event Dave(relentless) and us made our way up to Santa cruz and spent the rest of the day there so we could fish Yakhoppers event.   once again congrats to the winners!

Late thanks to Allen, Aron & MBK to put this together. :smt006
the fishing was wide open for Monterey seemed like.  Ash & I stay close & looking for bait & Hali.  She got few good take down on live Mackerel but didn't stick... so we didn't get anything... but we still had good time on the water!
I caught Senorita and this RF (I think Juvenile Bocaccio) and very carefully released...

I was super bummed that I could not make this tournament  :smt011 The man van had some issues  :smt013

Anyway, congrats to all the winners!

Special mention goes to Pat for catching his first yak-halibut. The simple fact that he was on a mission to catch one and that he did makes it so much sweeter!!!!

Great tourney and good fun. Sorry I missed it due to prior commitments.
Is Aki a GSP? Sure looks like it--great bird hunting pointer. My ESSs would never stay in a yak I don't think keep trying to swim

Yup... she's a German Shorthair Pointer.  Those dogs have a strong hunting drive and are full of energy.  I would not recommend them for city dwellers who don't hunt or spend lots of time outdoors.
