Seafabcustoms is donating 2 Seafabcustoms  Anchors to Crabfest. They are built to any size, from 3to 7 lbs, and will come powder coated.

These are perfect for sturgeon fishing and staying anchored up in strong current.

A big thank you to our own NCKA Ariel for the donation.

We haven't had any major issues, but here are some friendly reminders from the park. We apply for a permit each year and it is based on the previous event.

1) If you are just coming for the day, there is a day use fee. If you get there before the station is open you must complete the registration on the envelope and deposit the cash into the iron ranger.

2) Tables and Parking are available on a first come,  first served basis. Additional Parking is available at the boat ramp area.

3) BBQ and cooking equipment must stay in the picnic areas. They are not allowed on the beach. Fires are only allowed in the designated fire rings. No fires on the beach.

4) Bands or amplification of voice or music are not permitted.

Campsite Info:

1) Rates include one vehicle and one towed vehicle per site. Each additional vehicle is $7 per night.

2) Up to eight people are allowed per site. Check-in is 2 PM. Check-out is 12 PM.

3) Most campgrounds allow dogs for a fee of $2 per dog, per night.

Just a friendly reminder that the one thing that park employees and those of us that volunteer at Doran hate the most is zip-ties and, even worse, pieces of zip-ties. They are impossible to pick up with the "trash grabbers".

If anyone needs a spot to park for Saturday, I am sure we'll have room in our camp spot, site 113. I'm not bringing a trailer this year. Easy launch as well.  First come, first serve!
BUT!
You must bring something yummy for potluck.
Ha!

Oh, and you still need to pay a day use fee and have the tag in the window.  I don't wanna be tazzed bro!

Sorry I've been living under a rock lately, but I do look forward to getting out to Crabfest with my kids this year and enjoying some quality time with the NCKA family. I'll be bringing a few of these giant checks with me.

Yes,  this event is great for new anglers. You don't even need to go out. Just bring a dish for the potluck and hang out. You will be able to see how everyone is rigged for the ocean and crabbing.

Last minute reminders:

1) You do not have to go out on the water to participate. Only go out if you are comfortable, wearing a pfd, able to self rescue and dressed for immersion.

2) If you arrive at the gate before the park ranger opens the booth, pay cash and follow the instructions posted. They will check cars and you will get a ticket if you haven't paid.

3) You must check in before you start crabbing. Check In will start at sunrise (7:20 AM). You will be given a wristband. As soon as you check in,  you can start crabbing.

4) Review the rules on the first page. Follow all rules of the California Department of Fish and Wildlife. Make sure you have a fishing license and crab gauge on you. Do not bring undersize crab on the beach or to the check in table.

5) There will be a raffle, and all proceeds will go to www.dyf.org Raffle tickets will be $1 each, and cash only.

6) There is some extra clothing, and it will be available on a first come, first serve basis.

7) Please do not park in the first 3 spots on the left closest to the picnic area. Those spots are used for event staff. Do not place items in the parking space to save spots, if you are waiting in line, please respect those in front of you.

8 ) Please respect the rangers/host when they open they gate. Last year we had someone cut them off, there is no need to rush and there is plenty of parking.

Please check this thread for any updates. I will be at site 104 starting Friday afternoon.
