Anyone belong to a medical share community? It is a very convincing model for coverage... Stinkin' health insurance is gonna cost me 19,800.00 this next year not including deductible per member and copays.  What a racket... :smt012

How many people is that for? Not trying to be nosey just wanting to understand. Have you walked into a Kaiser membership office for a sit down discussion?

This the last year for insurance for my wife before Medicare kicks in in October.  Her current premiums are $1650 a month for a "Gold" plan.  Coverage isn't really very good and co-pays are very high.  $45 for a doctor visit.  In contrast, my Medicare is $135 + $79 for the Advantage plan.  Everything is covered and co-pays are minimal.  Sometimes being an "OG" is a good thing.

2 years ago when I was laid off,  I paid around $1600 monthly for Kaiser plan under Cobra just for my wife and I because we're qualified for Obamacare plans.

That’s a little on the high end for a family of 4 but not by that much.

Yeah, family of 5....I'm just not used to a 200 +- per month increase.  I do like Kaiser and have for many years.

My wife was looking into the shared deal. She has not pulled the trigger yet due to our current coverage. When it falls apart we will probably switch to that.

We got thrown a little bone our way two years ago , the County where I'm retired from issued us a credit card with just under a $2000 max on it for med/dental use for the retiree and depends.

It has definitely came in handy for prescriptions, cleanings , office visits etc etc

Health care costs are such a scam not that some of those in the field deserve to be well paid , sometimes I do wonder about the admin/management costs

Hope it works out Eddie
It will...it's just the pain of giving all this fishing gear and toys and vacations to the system... :smt006

You’re a brave man to give out that info about Sue, Martin. Lol!  I would stay away from her baked cookies made just for you. :smt003

My wife and son are on a Christian shared health cost. We never use it (but is awesome if we ever have huge mex bills) we pay out of pocket for my sons (age 5) check up at a private doctor. I have VA and kaiser but don’t use either.

We did shared to help others that need it and not get penalized for it since the obama care kicked in.

Thanks for that... :smt006
