We guided a small group out of HMB this weekend. We took the group to the crab grounds and dropped traps and hoop nets all over the place. I wanted to put hoop nets in shallower water so I told one of the customers to follow me. As she drops her hoop net, I look over to one of the neighboring buoys and see a Great White Shark swimming around the buoy at high rate of speed, either chasing food or playing with the buoy. It was similar in size to an Outback so I'm guessing it was at least 12'. I watched it for a few seconds until the lady started screaming, "JASON, IS THAT A SHARK!?!". LOL! I immediately pedaled over to her to calm her down and to let her know everything was going to be OK. We slowly pedal towards the rest of the group and huddle up to give the shark some time to go away. After a few minutes of sharing the story and cracking jokes about it, we all continued to have fun catching crabs.

Sounds like a juvenile is taking advantage of the fish that are drawn in by the crab bait...  good lookin' out!   Nice catches and way to put your clients on some nice crab!!

There was a White shark attack on a kayak fisherman near Bean Hollow State beach back in August 2017.

http://www.hmbreview.com/news/kayaker-tells-of-encounter-with-shark/article_22bdac4e-7d3c-11e7-8fba-db0b9c36ce3e.html

“It hit like a freight train,” he recalled by telephone on Tuesday, a week after the incident. “I have the image of the shark’s head, three feet out of the water, burned in my brain.”

probably the same landlord.

Something knocked me of my boat this past weekend at Linda Mar I didn't get a look at it and that survival instinct that makes the hair on the back of you neck stand up didn't kick in. I figure it must have been a seal but I never saw any.
